Thirteen acres of forested land on the south side of Shutesbury Road were donated to Rattlesnake Gutter Trust in 1998 by Andrew Scheffey. Thick with hemlock, this land stretches along the road for a half mile. Details

Driving Directions

  • From Leverett Town Hall heading south, bear left onto Shutesbury Road at the Leverett Family Museum (old library).
  • At the intersection with Cushman Road in 1.4 miles, turn sharp right/uphill and continue on Shutesbury Road.
  • After 1.5 miles, you will go under a power line and then past Broad Hill Road on your right.
  • The property begins 1.5 miles from the sharp turn (or about 3 miles from Leverett Center). It continues on the right/south to the Shutesbury town line (0.5 miles).
  • Pull-off parking is on the right just before the culvert and the town line sign.
